ANSWERS
 ACCESS DATABASE
  1. I cannot "see" a table in my Access database from within MS Query.
Sometimes what you may think is a table is really a "view". To see a "View" from within MS Query, 1. go to the "Query Wizard - Choose Columns" panel, 2. click the "Options" button, 3. mark the "Views" on the "Table Options" panel, 4. Click "OK" and proceed.

  2. What are the limitations to an Access database?
Microsoft Access Database - General (Limitations prior to Access 2007) As with any application, there are always specifications and limitations as to what can be done. The following details the specifications stated in the Microsoft Access Help files for Microsoft Access 2000, XP and 2003 versions. Microsoft Access database (.mdb) 2 gigabytes Number of objects in a database 32,768 Modules 1,000 Number of characters in an object name 64 Number of characters in a password 14 Number of characters in a user name or group name 20 Number of concurrent users 255

  3. When I open an Access database created by Xllerate™, why do I receive message to convert the database?
Xllerate™ creates an Access Database in an early version of Access to insure maximum compatibility for all systems. To open an Xllerate™ created Access Database without converting the database, perform the following: 1. Select Open Database (user will see 2 options: "Open Database" and "Convert Database"), 2. Click the OK Button You may convert the Access Database to a more current version of Access (select "Convert Database" in step 1 above). Remember to modify your Xllerate™ code to reference the newly converted database name (you will be required to rename the Access Database during the conversion process) If User selects the "Open Database" option, User will NOT be able to save any changes they make in the Access Database (from within Access). User can still make changes using Xllerate™.

  4. Can I use the Apps_AccessDatabase TLC function against an existing Access Database?
Yes. Just remember, any changes you make are permanent. As with any program, we recommend you make a copy of the database and perform any tests against the copy until you are sure your program is working appropriately.

 CITRIX
  1. Will Xllerate™ work in a Citrix environment?
You can try. We have not performed testing, but we have seen it work in a Citrix environment. If it works, then we are glad it will be able to help you with your tasks. The bottom line is that you should make sure if works during the free trial period. If it works, then you can consider buying it. Otherwise, just uninstall it.

  1. CLASS NOT REGISTERED. LOOKING FOR OBJECT WITH CLSID: (AC9F2F90-E877-11CE-9F68-00AA00574A4F) OR (0D452EE1-E08F-101A-852E-02608C4D0BB4) OR (A0E
ISSUE This problem may be caused by a missing or incorrect Microsoft Windows registry entry for the Dynamic Link Library Fm20.dll. The proper registration of this file is required when you work with User Forms and form controls in Microsoft Excel 97. HOW TO FIX INSTRUCTIONS The Fm20.dll is NOT redistributable. You must have an application such as Microsoft Office 97 on the target system that installs Fm20.dll as part of its setup. (Fm20.dll is included with the OSR2 and OSR2.5 releases of Windows 95.) As an alternative to having your end users install Microsoft Office, you can have them freely download and install the Microsoft ActiveX Control Pad, which also installs the Fm20.dll. For more information, see the following Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) Web site: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnaxctrl/html/cpad.asp

  2. I am getting an error message that XXX file cannot be found or XXX is the wrong version or XXX does not match. What happened?
Most likely, someone attempted to manually move the Xllerate™ files from their required locations. To "fix" this, you must "Repair" your installation. To Repair ... 1. go to Start | Control Panel | Add / Remove Programs, 2. locate Xllerate in the list (it should be towards the bottom of the list), 3. click on the "click here for support information" hyperlink, 4. click the "Repair" button, 5. Wait until finished, 6. Open Excel, the error message should be gone.

  3. Why do I get a message box wanting a password when I try to open the Xllerate.xla file?
The Xllerate.xla file is locked with a password and is not designed for Users to open. The adxloader.dll opens the Xllerate.xla file. To attach the adxloader.dll COM Add-in to your Excel...See the Xllerate™ Help Manual (go to Xllerate | Xllerate Help OR the click the white question mark on blue circle icon on the Xllerate Toolbar) and perform a search on the keyword "COM", "Add-in" and "attach". To remove Xllerate™ from the regular "VBA" add-in list go to Tools | Add-ins and unmark Xllerate™.

 EXCEL
  1. Fixing Excel Startup problems
    Read the article at http://www.jkp-ads.com/Articles/StartupProblems.asp

  2. Where can I get any patches or updates to Excel?
Check that your version of Excel has all patches and updates installed. You can do this by visiting Microsoft's Office Update site at : http://office.microsoft.com/OfficeUpdate/default.aspx

  3. Information on charting in Excel
    Go to 1. www.ExcelUser.com OR 2. http://www.peltiertech.com/Excel/Charts/index.html

  4. How do I know what version of Excel I have?
Go to Help | About Microsoft Office Excel. It is usually at the top of the displayed panel.

  5. Excel menus are all frozen, nothing is clickable.
Excel has this frozen menu problem sometimes, regardless of Xllerate™. Excel uses a "Excel.xlb" file to control the menu bar. You can locate that file and change the name to "backup.xlb". Then restart Excel, this will force Excel to generate a new Excel.xlb which gives you a fresh start with the menu bar. Please follow the steps below to give it a try: 1. Exit Excel 2. Excel.xlb can be found at C:\Documents and Settings\*USER_NAME*\Application Data\Microsoft\Excel (*USER_NAME* needs to be replaced by your actual user name. If you don't know your username, go to C:\Documents and Settings\ and you should be able to recognize the folder of your user name, then go on to Application Data\Microsoft\Excel) 3. The file is a ".xlb" file but the ".xlb" extension may not show. So the file may look like a regular Excel file with a displayed name "Excel" (for Excel 2000) or "Excel11" (for Office 2003/XP). 4. Rename the file to "backup" or anything you like, then restart Excel. 5. You should get your Excel menu back. But if it does not work, you can always rename "backup.xlb" back to what it was before. This way you don't lose anything. The last resort is to simply uninstall and reinstall Office.

  6. Excel is acting strangely, not working
Memory Leaks http://www.decisionmodels.com/memlimitsd.htm Memory Leaks occur when a program (Excel, VBA…) obtains some memory but fails to hand it back to the memory manager. Usually you only notice this if you monitor memory usage closely, or you run out of memory! Most of the time you can reclaim the memory by saving your workbook, closing and then restarting Excel. Sometimes you have to restart Windows. Sometimes you can delay the point at which you run out of memory by increasing the size of your Swapfile. You can easily monitor memory leaks with Windows NT, 2000 and XP using the Windows Task Manager. Here is a partial list of things that can cause memory leaks: Page Setup in Win95 & Win98 & Win ME (GDI problem) - see MSKB Q192869 Printing using HP Printers - see MSKB Q165985 and Q218864 Querying an open Excel worksheet using ADO - see MSKB Q319998 Replacing external link formulae Some external data retrieval actions, particularly repeatedly reading text files. Excel seems to store only unique strings rather than multiple occurrences of the same string, but does not seem to remove a unique string when it is no longer in use. Controls embedded on worksheets - see MSKB Q238570 User Defined Functions, particularly when they take input parameters from another sheet and return a string. there are some fixes for these problems in Excel 97 SR2 and Excel 2000 SP2 - see MSKB Q265023 Inserting and deleting graphic objects such as bitmaps or JPEGs. Not destroying objects in VBA by setting the object variables to nothing in the correct sequence so that you avoid "orphaned" objects. In theory this is not neccessary, but sometimes problems occur when this is not done. Destroy in inside-out container sequence, for example Range then Worksheet then Workbook. Excel’s UNDO feature does not have a memory leak but will use up memory that could otherwise be used for formulae. SAVE removes the UNDO information and frees the memory. You can reduce the number of Undo levels by editing the Registry. This will tend to reduce the memory used by UNDO: see Q211922 - XL2000: How to Modify the Number of Undo Levels. On large spreadsheets you should be careful about editing very large numbers of formulae in a single step: edit in small steps with intermediate saves. __________________________________________________________ Excel Acts Strangely Every once in a while, Excel starts acting strangely. Is this an Xllerate™ problem? Unfortunately, it's not uncommon to encounter a situation in which Excel stops working properly. For example, the video display may be incorrect, or Excel may suddenly stop responding to commands. The most common cause of general "strangeness" on the part of Excel is not enough system resources (Excel has always had a serious problem in this area). The solution is to exit Excel and re-start Windows. If possible, don't run any other applications while you use Excel. This problem is not caused by Xllerate™ per se. You may find that restarting Windows several times per day solves this type of problem. Upgrading to a more recent version of Windows (such as Windows 2000 or Windows XP) may also help. You may also temporarily "disable" Xllerate™ or set Xllerate™ not to load at each start up of Excel. Also, it's a good idea to keep track of which add-in programs are installed (use the Add-Ins command on the Tools menu). In addition, you may have add-ins in your XLStart directory. These add-ins are loaded every time Excel starts, and may not even be listed in the Add-Ins dialog box. Add-ins consume memory and resources, and there is no need to load them if you don't use them. Look to see whether you really need these programs to be loaded at startup, or contact your System Administrator if you you’re unfamiliar with this process.

  7. Delay in saving Excel workbooks
Outlook may be adding "journal" information to it's files. This occurs when you install Outlook and Excel at the same time. To turn journaling off, follow these steps: 1. Within Outlook, choose "Options" from the "Tools" menu (this will display the Options dialog panel). 2. Click on the "Journal" tab. 3. Make sure the Microsoft Excel check box is cleared in the "Also Record From" area of the dialog box. 4. Click the "OK" button to close the Options dialog box. 5. Exit Outlook and restart your computer.

  8. I need help with an Excel formula function.
You can download a workbook from www.xlfdic.com for free. This workbook gives an example of how to use over 150 Excel formula functions.

 INSTALLATION/ACTIVATION
  1. I installed Xllerate™, but the other Users of this computer cannot see it in Excel.
To fix...1. go to Start | Control Panel | Add / Remove Programs, 2. locate Xllerate in the list (it should be towards the bottom of the list), 3. click on the "click here for support information" hyperlink, 4. click the "Repair" button, 5. Wait until finished, 6. Open Excel, Xllerate should be there.

  2. Xllerate™ will not work on my Macintosh.
Xllerate™ is not designed to work on a Macintosh.

  3. Xllerate™ menu is visible but the toolbar has disappeared from Excel. Where is the toolbar?
From the Excel main toolbar, click View | Toolbars to check whether Xllerate™ is loaded but the toolbar is just hidden.

  4. Why does Xllerate™ require a User with Administration rights to install?
Xllerate™ makes modifications to the registry, installs files and a service to track license key usage. If you work for a company, some IT environments do not allow end users to install any software. If you attempt to install Xllerate™ and you do not have Administrative rights, the program will stop and let you know you do not have Administrative rights. If you have Administrative rights to your computer, you should have no issues installing Xllerate™. If you are an individual and you are installing Xllerate™ on your personal computer, you should not have any issues.

  5. Why do I get "Run-time error "429" -  ActiveX component can't create object?
This is normally caused by the Microsoft Scripting Runtime file not being properly registered on your PC. The error is completely unrelated to the add-in ... but the add-in, like a lot of other software, requires the scripting runtime file to be installed correctly. Why is the scripting runtime not properly registered on your PC? A Google search of error 429 will show that there are thousands of reasons. However, Microsoft's data access components (MDAC, DAO) seem to sometimes cause this error. The problem can normally be fixed by opening a command prompt (Start | Run) and typing REGSVR32 SCRRUN.DLL , and pressing enter. This registers the scripting runtime.

  6. Why did I receive a "Security Warning" when I installed Xllerate™?
Excel will (by default) show the User any programs that attempt to run a "macro". The User must decide if the program is valid. Xllerate™ has a trusted certificate issued by VeriSign. For Xllerate™ to work correctly, you must mark the "Always trust macros from this source" and press the "Enable Macros" button.

  7. Where do I get a copy of NET Framework 1.1?
NET Framework is included with the Xllerate™ installation. However, to download NET Framework, go to the
    Microsoft Support Site,

  8. When I enter my registration code it tells me that it is invalid. What should I do?
Make sure that you haven't substituted a letter "l" for a number "1" or a letter "o" for a number "0". All Xllerate™ license keys are NUMERIC. The easiest way to make sure that you have the correct code is to copy and paste it directly from your confirmation email.

  9. What happens at the end of the 30 day evaluation?
At the end of the 30 days free use the software will be disabled. It will not disable Microsoft Excel, or prevent you using your computer, simply the Xllerate™ will be disabled. You will continue to receive a message telling you that the Xllerate™ evaluation period has ended. You then have two choices: - Purchase a license to use Xllerate™. For pricing & licensing information see our website (www.xllerate.com). - Uninstall the software. For more details please see Uninstalling Xllerate™. The choice is yours.

  10. What are the system requirements?
The programs required are: 1. Excel (2000 to 2003/XP), VBA and Fm20.dll, 2. Windows Installer, 3. NET Framework (1.1.4322), 4. Administrator Rights for installing software See the Xllerate™ Help Manual (go to Xllerate | Xllerate Help OR the click the white question mark on blue circle icon on the Xllerate Toolbar) and perform a search on the keyword "system", "requirements"

  11. I downloaded Xllerate™ but I cannot find it on my computer. Where is it? How can I find it?
The file you downloaded will have a filename of "Xllerate_2.0.exe" (or similar), so to find the file try searching all your hard disks as follows: 1) Click Start, then choose Search > For Files or Folders…. 2) In the Search for files or folders field, type "Xllerate*.exe" (without the quotes and note the use of a *) 3) In the Look in field, select Local Hard drives to or My Computer to search your entire computer. 4) Click Search Now to begin the search. If no files are found then it is likely the download was not successful and you should download the file again from our web-site.

  12. I cannot download the trial version of Xllerate™.
The download file has an EXE extension, denoting that it is an executable file. To download the EXE file, you may have to temporarily disable your firewall or antivirus software. After you downloaded the EXE file, double-click it to install all required files.

  13. How to activate my Xllerate™ License, license activation
    1. Click the "Start" button (in lower left corner of your screen); 2. Select "Programs"; 3. Select "Xllerate" from the programs list; 4. From the Xllerate list, select "License Manager"; 5. Select the "Internet Activate" icon.; 6. Enter the 15 digit license number we sent you in an email.; 7. 14. How do I know I have .NET Framework is installed on my computer?
Most computers have .NET Framework 1.1 installed. Xllerate™ (as well as many newer software programs available in the market) require .NET Framework. To check if you have it installed, simply click on START, CONTROL PANEL, ADD OR REMOVE PROGRAMS and look for MICROSOFT .NET FRAMEWORK. If it is not there, download and install .NET Framework before you start to install Xllerate™. To download NET Framework, go to the
    Microsoft Support site.

  15. How big is the Xllerate™ download file size?
The Xllerate™ program is just under 30 MB (megabytes). Of that, approx. 15 MB is the Xllerate™ Help and Reference Manual. Download Times: Dialup (56k) 71 minutes DSL/Cable (256k) 16 minutes DSL/Cable (768k) 5 minutes T1 (1.5MB) 3 minutes

  16. Downloading Xllerate™ from your web-site is very slow, or aborts partway through. What can I do?
Download speeds vary depending on the distance between you and our web-site, and can also vary depending on the time of day. 1. Download again at a different time of day. The internet is generally slower during the afternoon & evening USA time. Try downloading early in the morning or late at night. 2. If you are still unable to download, we will forward you a disk via the US Mail.

  17. Cannot activate license, "Your license has expired"
You must purchase a license from www.xllerate.com or uninstall Xllerate™.

  18. After I purchased Xllerate™, I only received a serial key in the order confirmation emails. Where do I download the “non-trial” final version of Xller
The trial version of Xllerate™ is also the final version. Just enter the license key you received in the email and the trial 30 day limit is removed. To enter the license key, go to Start | Programs | Xllerate | License Manager. See also "License Activation" in the Xllerate™ Help Manual.

  19. Several people use the same computer (with different logins). When I installed, I selected the "Everyone" option. How come the others cannot see Xll
Sometimes, the registry is set such that the installation program cannot register for everyone. However, the fix is simple. To fix...1. Log in as the User that cannot "see" Xllerate™ in their Excel (you may have to do this for every User that cannot "see" Xllerate™). 2. go to Start | Control Panel | Add / Remove Programs, 3. locate Xllerate in the list (it should be towards the bottom of the list), 4. click on the "click here for support information" hyperlink, 5. click the "Repair" button, 6. Wait until finished, 7. Open Excel and Xllerate™ should be there.

 WSCRIPT
  1. How to disable/enable Script
How to disable or remove the Windows Scripting Host http://www.sarc.com/avcenter/venc/data/win.script.hosting.html How can worms such as VBS.LoveLetter.A spread so fast and have the potential to cause so much damage? If you have been following these virus outbreaks, you may wonder how this can happen and what you can do to protect yourself. VBS.LoveLetter.A, VBS.NewLove.A, and other viruses and worms use the VBScript computer language to spread and damage infected computers. VBScript and VBS files VBScript is a scripting language that allows developers to create a list of commands that can be executed without user interaction. As with any scripting language, it is frequently used to automate actions. Unfortunately, virus writers can also take advantage of its capabilities to infect computers and cause extensive damage. VBScript files are nothing more than plain text files with a .vbs extension, and they can be edited using any text editor, such as Notepad. They contain a set of instructions that are run when a user executes the file. For example, you can create a .vbs file that reads a list of names for shared folders on your local network and maps a network drive to each name. Almost any action that you can perform while sitting at your computer can be automated by one of these scripts. What is the Windows Scripting Host? The Windows Scripting Host (WSH) is a feature of Microsoft Windows operating systems. It enables .vbs files to run in Windows 95, 98, NT 4.0, and Windows 2000. In the case of the VBS.LoveLetter.A and VBS.NewLove.A worms, it enabled the virus writer to automate actions that ran a direct script execution without end-user intervention. The WSH enables users to automate tasks in Windows by providing access to the Windows shell, file system, registry, and more. The WSH is accessible to anyone who can learn to write the relatively simple scripting code. Scripts can be run directly from the desktop by clicking on a script file from within a program, such as an email program, or from the command console. What can you do to protect yourself? Use Script Blocking If you are a home or small business customer, you should be running Norton AntiVirus 2001 or later. Both programs can be configured to detect VBScripts when they are run, alert you to ones that are unknown or possibly malicious, and block them if necessary. If you are using Norton AntiVirus 2001, a free program update that includes Script Blocking is available. Run LiveUpdate to obtain this. If you are using Norton AntiVirus 2002 or later, all of which include Script Blocking, make sure that Script Blocking is enabled (the default). Disable or uninstall the Windows Scripting Host One preventive measure that you can take to protect yourself from viruses that come as .vbs attachments is to disable or uninstall the Windows Scripting Host. Because Windows Scripting Host is an optional part of Windows, it can be safely removed from your computer. This feature can easily be re-installed if it is required in the future. Remember that there are many other viruses that do not use the Windows Scripting Host, so it is critical that you continue to use Norton AntiVirus protection with the most up-to-date virus definitions. _____________________________ Before you begin: If you are using Norton AntiVirus 2001 and you have downloaded and installed the Script Blocking update, or you are using Norton AntiVirus 2002/2003/2004, and Script Blocking is enabled, this is neither necessary nor recommended. The Script Blocking feature will prevent potentially malicious scripts from running, and will still allow you to run the required scripts. _____________________________ How to disable (or re-enable) the Windows Scripting Host: The program, Noscript.exe, will disable the Windows Scripting Host; this will prevent viruses from executing automated scripts. Note: Disabling the WSH will prevent all the scripts from running on the system. Download Noscript.exe to a folder on the hard disk. Double-click the Noscript.exe icon. The Norton Script Disabler/Enabler appears. If the WSH is currently enabled on the system, you will be prompted as to whether you want to disable it. To do so, click Disable, and then click OK. If the WSH is currently disabled on the system, you will be prompted as to whether you want to enable it. To do so, click Enable, and then click OK. The following are optional command-line parameters to Noscript.exe: /silent This suppresses the enable/disable dialog and automatically disable WSH. If WSH has already been disabled, Noscript will do nothing. /silent /on This suppresses the enable/disable dialog and automatically enables WSH. If WSH has already been enabled, Noscript will do nothing. The "/on" parameter must be used in conjunction with the "/silent" switch; it cannot be used by itself. NOTE: If the command-line parameters are used, Noscript will not toggle the enabled/disabled state of WSH. How does Noscript disable/enable the WSH? It renames the file association classes for any class that has either Wscript.exe or Cscript.exe in its Shell\Open\Command or Shell\Open2\Command registry keys. How to uninstall the WSH Remove from the Control Panel (Windows 98 users only) If you are running Windows 98, you can either use this method, or the method described in the second section. Follow these steps: NOTE: This does not apply to Windows 98 Second Edition. If you are a Second Edition user, use the method described in the second section. Click Start, point to Settings, and click Control Panel. Double-click Add/Remove Programs. Click the Windows Setup tab. Double-click Accessories. Scroll down, if necessary, and locate the Windows Scripting Host entry. If it is not in the Accessories list, then you will have to use the method described in the next section. Cancel all dialog boxes, close Control Panel, and then skip to the next section. If it is in the Accessories list, select it and note whether it is checked or unchecked. If it is not checked, it is not installed. Cancel all the dialog boxes and close the Control Panel. If it is checked, uncheck it, click OK, and then click OK again. Close the Control Panel. Remove the file from the system (any version of Windows) With the exception of some versions of Windows 98, the Windows Scripting Host can be installed on the computer, but not be displayed in the Add/Remove Programs dialog box. For these and all versions of Windows, you can disable WSH by removing its executable file. Follow these steps to do this: Click Start, point to Find, and click Files or Folders. Make sure that Look in is pointed to either drive C or All Drives, if you have more than one. In the Named box, type wscript.exe,,and then click Find Now. Right-click the resultant file, and then do one of the following: If you are sure that you will not need this, click Delete, and then click Yes to confirm. If you want to keep a copy of this file so that you can easily re-install it later: Click Cut. (Do not click Copy.) Close the Find Files window. Double-click the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop. Insert a blank, formatted floppy disk into the floppy disk drive. Double-click the floppy disk drive icon, usually drive A. Click the File menu, and then click Paste. Optional: Because you have deleted or moved the Wscript.exe file, if you ever try to run a .vbs file, you will see a Program Not Found message. This is, of course, expected, and you can click Cancel. If you want to prevent this, however, you will have to remove the file association, as follows: Start Windows Explorer. Click View, and then click Options or Folder Options. Click the File Types tab. In the Registered file types list box, scroll down to select VBScript Script File. Click Remove, and then click Yes to confirm. Click OK, and then close all dialog boxes.

Microsoft Support Site OR You can visit Microsoft's Office Update site.

  9. I am running the Apps_Outlook TLC function, but I am not getting any data OR data is incomplete (i.e. missing email addresses). What is wrong?
Xllerate™ uses another program called OTAsst.dll to access Outlook. If OTAsst is not registered properly, you may receive this type of message. (A). Try re-registering OTAsst by 1. going to Start | Control Panel | Add_Remove Programs, 2. locate Xllerate in the list (it should be towards the bottom of the list, 3. click on the "click here for support information" hyperlink, 4. click the "Repair" button. 5. Wait until finished and retry. If that does not work then, (B) We tried testing Xllerate™ on 70 different system configurations, yours may be a "flavor" we did not test. However, don't worry, we have a solution for you. 1. Go to c:\program files\xllerate <<<< (this may be different depending on where you installed Xllerate™) 2. Look for the "bin" directory 3. Double click on the "bin" directory, 4. In the "bin" directory, you will find a .zip file named "ClickYesSetUp.zip", 5. Unzip and install the program, 6. This program will place a small icon on the lower right of your screen, 7. When the icon has a check mark, it will automatically answer the Outlook warning messages, 8. When the icon has an X, it will not answer the Outlook warning messages. See the ClickYes Help for more information (see also http://www.contextmagic.com/express-clickyes/).

  10. I cannot create an inactive published web page from my Excel workbook.
Excel 2000 only allows publishing of static web pages. If you are using Excel 2003/XP, make sure the web page name in wsV3 has an extension of .HTML or .HTM AND that you have rights to save a file to the directory indicated in wsV2.

  11. I get a prompt asking for a password when closing Xllerate™. How do I get rid of this?
Are you using Google Desktop? 1. Go to View | Toolbars | Customize, 2. Click the "Commands" tab, 3. Click "Tools" in the Categories list, 4. In the "Commands list" find "COM Add-ins" (about half way down), 5. Click on "COM Add-ins" and drag it up to an existing toolbar, 6. Click on the new "COM Add-Ins" button and remove any check mark next to "Google Desktop Office Addin". Password Problem Fixer http://www.add-ins.com/password_problem.htm Works in Excel 97, 2000, 2002, XP, 2003, and 2007 & for users of Google desktop search and Excel If you have installed the Google desktop search software and you are using Excel it is highly likely that you will get a request for an Excel add-in password when you close Excel. And if you do not know the password (which is also highly likely) clicking cancel does not close the dialog. Nor does clicking on the X to close the dialog. It just keeps coming back and back and back. Some users have been able to close the password request dialog after clicking cancel many many times. If this does not work users have to kill Excel via Alt-Ctl-Delete or even power their PC off and on. None of these are acceptable solutions. The problem does not affect all users. It does not happen all the time. It is fairly rare (and one must have Google desktop search installed) But to those it happens to it is down right annoying. It happens if the add-in file is protected and especially if the add-in file is opened by another add-in. Google is aware of the problem. Our recommendation is to un-install the Google desktop search. If you don't need it get rid of it. If you do need a desktop search program, get one that works with Excel. You can download and run the following program that does the modification for you. Download the password_prompt_fixer.exe from www.add-ins.com/password_problem.htm Only run the password prompt fixer after you have installed Google's desktop search. If you run before, then the Google installation will overwrite the modification the password prompt fixer makes. If you do not have Google's desktop search installed the password prompt fixer will not benefit you.

  12. My Xllerate™ program is running slow. Is there any way to speed it up?
Yes. You may set Excel's calculation mode to "Manual". See Tools_Options | Calculation in the Xllerate™ Help Manual for more information. WARNING: be sure to turn calculation back to "Automatic" when appropriate.

  29. Certain TLC functions take a long time to process (ex. Data_Subtotals or File_PageSetUp).
Data_Subtotals function was taking in excess of 2 minutes to run. Determined the issue was that the default printer on User's computer was set to a printer that did not exist on network (or network was down). The several TLC functions use the printer driver to determine page breaks. Inserting page breaks calls for the page set-up function and uses the printer driver to do this. Changing printer to another printer driver (like: Microsoft Document Imager) or by turning off the network connection. User should test by selecting another printer. Also, Users should determine if a more updated driver is available for their printer.

  30. Does Xllerate™ have any problems working with other Add-ins (addins)?
